Consuelo Martinez Council Member - City of Escondido

This week our Club's Guest Speaker willl be: Escondido Council Member Consuelo Martinez who represents Escondido's District One.

She will be discussing what's new in Escondido and her district with focus on projects she is promoting, one of which is a monthly neighborhood cleanup project.

Consuelo Martinez is a native of Southern California and has lived in Escondido since the age of four. She is the proud daughter of hard-working immigrant parents. Consuelo attended public schools in District 1 and graduated from Escondido High School then went on to graduate from Palomar College and received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Women’s Studies from California State University of San Marcos. Consuelo has been involved in the community for over two decades. She has served as former commissioner for the City of Escondido’s Community Services Commission and the former police chief’s community advisory group. Consuelo was elected to the Escondido City Council in November of 2018 were she served as deputy mayor the first two years. She also currently works as a policy and advocacy director for the San Diego Food System Alliance.

Consuelo is passionate about her city and ensuring the voices and needs of all residents are heard. When Consuelo finds free time between her two jobs, she enjoys trying out new restaurants and coffee shops, thrifting, and checking out a concert, art, or cultural event.
